Accumulate Experience by Reading Books - Chapter 4

After taking his shower, Lee Jong-Suk took out the experience book. It seemed like he had gotten the experience he wanted. At least, that’s what he thought. He had no other way to explain the drastic change to his senses.

That afternoon, in school, he had felt like throwing up the lunch he had in the cafeteria. It tasted so horrible. He looked around and saw he was the only one feeling that way. Before that day, he had not been aware of the way the food tasted. He just ate it mechanically, without giving much thought to it.

He thought about the spicy rice cakes, and he smiled to himself. The spicy rice cake business did well that day. It was the first time they’d sell so much in a day. He remembered the happy faces of his parents and smiled wider. If the business runs perfectly, then the possibility of them getting rich soon was high. At least, that was what his mom thought.

Lee Jong-Suk walked over to where the experience book was and opened it.

“This makes no sense at all. This is just crazy,” he said aloud.

Receiving answers for his questions and being able to gain experience was crazy, and at the same time, also interesting. He wondered if it was possible to make experience? If it was possible to get experience from the experience book, then it should also be possible to make an experience.

Lee Jong-Suk thought about it for a moment and turned on the computer after spending a while thinking. The screen of the old computer lit up and. Jong-Suk went about his business. He opened his Facebook page and the notifications started to show. He went to his timeline and went through his previous posts.

He saw the most recent posts, where he wrote what he did in the last few days. He found something that caught his interest. The post he saw was worth being written in the experience book. It should work. Lee Jong-Suk opened the experience book and began writing in there.

[When I was in the second grade, I used to go to a supermarket on errands for my dad. On a cold winter day, when I was on an errand, I saw a middle-aged man sleeping on the street after drinking alcohol. Although many people were walking on the street, no one tried to wake up the middle-aged man.

I was very worried. I was freezing in the cold weather, and I couldn’t imagine what the middle-aged man was feeling. So, I woke up the middle-aged man, and we used his phone to call a family member of his. I waited till his son came around to take him home.]

[Experience in helping human beings has been written. You have received 2,500 experience points.]

Lee Jong-Suk looked at the reply he got and smiled. He started to write more posts in the experience book.

[It was last year. I was walking on the road when suddenly, I heard a big bang from behind me. I turned to see…..]

Lee Jong-suk wrote about three people that he saved. The first was a drunk person, and, the second was a person involved in a motorbike accident, Lee Jong-Suk saved the man’s life by calling 119. The third person was a grandfather who had a traffic accident after crossing the road without looking at the traffic lights. Lee Jong-Suk ran to his aid and called 119 immediately.

[Experience in helping human beings has been written. You have received 1,500 experience points.]

[Experience in helping human beings has been written. [You have received 2500 experience points.]

After writing two other experiences, the experience points received decreased. Though they were different experiences because they were of the same category, the experience points decreased. He thought that he’d have many different experiences if he was a doctor and would have continually gotten experience points. For common people like him, to have intriguing experiences didn’t seem that easy.

He had gotten 4,500 experience points just now. He thought about the cooking experience he got the previous night. The cooking experience he got had helped his family. The rice cakes he had made had sold well. Also, his taste buds weren’t the same as they were before.

The rice cakes they had made countless times in the past had been good. It was still made the same way, but when he tasted it yesterday, it had tasted horrible. Lee Jong-Suk thought about the experience book and what his next step should be.

“For what I wrote yesterday I got 2,500 experience points. I used 2,000 to get cooking experience and I had 500 points remaining. I got 4,500 points today. So, I have a total of 5,000 points today,” he said aloud.

The cooking skills he got for 2,000 points were great, but he wondered what kind of skill he would get for five thousand points and what new kind of experience he would receive. After thinking about it for a moment, Lee Jong-Suk put a sheet of paper on the experience book and started writing.

[Education?]

[Love?]

[Exercise?]

[What kind of thing do I like the most?]

Lee Jong-suk who was looked at what he wrote on the paper and stood up immediately. He left his room and went in search of his mom.

“Mom!”

“What?”

“What do you wish I could do?”

“You? Do you want to become someone you become?”

“Well, if it’s possible.”

“Then, you have to first do well in college.”

“College?”

“By the way, you need good grades before you can go to college.”

Lee Jong-suk thought for a moment and went back into his room.

“College, huh? I haven’t even thought about it yet.”

If he could get into a good college, his parents would love that and he would be able to secure a good future for himself. Now, the only problem was his grades. It wasn’t about studying well or not being able to; it was just that the only grades Lee Jong-Suk got were average grades.

He wondered if there was anything like studying experience. With that thought, Lee Jong-Suk opened the experience book and wrote:

[Is there any experience with studying?]

[Experience about studying can be achieved]

[Study 2,000]

The pages of the book turned, and new words were written.

[When I was young, my first teacher was a shaman, and he was the head of the institute located in Hubei. In Hubei, he was a very famous and respected teacher, so I went there in my sixth year.

He was a very… ]

Things about Hubei and his shaman I were written down. Lee Jong-Suk was amazed and read on. He wondered if there were any experiences about being a librarian. If there were, then he had just wasted his 2,000 points for nothing.

However, Lee Jong-Suk, read everything that was written down. The 2,000 experience points were already used; if he didn’t read the words, they would be wasted. So, Lee Jong-Suk continued reading.

[My hair never seemed to be good. But the teacher always looked at me, favorably. “Your head is that of Moon-Il-Ji. If you learn one thing, you should not leave it, because you have the heart of Moon-Il-Ji,” he’d say. He complimented me like that…]

Lee Jong-suk was dreaming. Studying the experience written by a Chinese bachelor was what he was dreaming about. In the dream, Lee Jong-Suk was the bachelor. The behavior of the bachelor and what he was doing, was felt vividly by Lee Jong-Suk. However, what was troubling was that the things the bachelor was learning, and what he was experiencing were slightly different.
