[Evelyn’s angle]

Who was he trying to goad with such a childish provocation? Seriously! Then, I looked at the bread with the extra ingredient and took a bite. It wasn’t that I was being goaded, but I had to eat it for the reputation of the bakery!

Maybe, perhaps, probably, even though the label said wasabi, the stuff inside might have already been swapped by Dylan? After all, if it really was wasabi, how could anyone finish it as stoically as he did?

“Ah! So spicy!” Tears kept falling from my eyes.

The spicy and stimulating taste spread from my mouth to my eyes, nose, and ears. I felt sick.

“Spicy, spicy, spicy, spicy, water!”

I rushed to the kitchen immediately. Dad saw me and wanted to help me, but I waved my arm and urged him to go to the front desk to serve the customers.

I couldn’t control my tears! I kept rinsing my mouth with water.

“Why am I so unlucky every time I meet him?”

[Dylan’s angle]

I went to the basketball court after delivering the Red Ginseng Fruits with my sister. However, there was no one on the basketball court today. It was probably because people had drunk too much at the graduation party yesterday that they hadn’t woken up yet! I didn’t dare to drink, though. My sister and I had a similar drinking capacity. We would basically be drunk after a glass.

However, since my sister loved alcohol, I didn’t feel anything. Especially when I saw her acting crazy after she got drunk, I didn’t dare to touch that.

After scoring twice and found the feeling, I held the ball at my fingertip and headed in the direction of the football field. At that moment, the school bell rang, and many students rushed towards the field. In an instant, students could be seen on several grounds.

I walked over to the audience and was planning to wait for them to play a few rounds before asking if I could join them.

Looking at the students who were acting like wild horses after class, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “I’ve finally made it through high school. I’m so happy to see that they still have to go to class.”

In fact, I didn’t know why I always liked to gloat. My parents were both very gentle people. So, who had I and my sister inherited our mischievous behavior from? Or was it that when we were in my mother’s womb, my sister had given me half of the bad water in her stomach?

“Hello, can I sit here?”

Suddenly, someone asked me this.

I looked up slightly and saw a man with blonde hair and green eyes, who seemed to be a pretty good-looking man.

“Sorry, Evelyn doesn’t need a boyfriend.”

“What?” The man seemed a little surprised.

I frowned and added, “Evelyn is still young. Please don’t have any thoughts about her. And please don’t think of me as a stepping stone for you to get close to Evelyn. Otherwise, you’ll get a taste of my fists.” As I said that, I raised my fist and swung it twice. Such an insensitive person. Did he want me to make it so clear?

The man seemed startled and didn’t answer.

As expected, fists were the most useful when dealing with Evelyn’s bad romances.

“You may have misunderstood. I’m not here for Evelyn. I’m here for you.”

The man’s words surprised me. Here for me? Why? I didn’t seem to have gotten into a fight recently and I didn’t think I had offended this person! Besides, I should recognize him since he had blonde hair and green eyes.

Since I didn’t answer, the man sat down next to me. I looked at him skeptically. There had been many men who wanted to chase after Evelyn ever since she was young. They had all kinds of tricks up their sleeves, and I couldn’t help but be wary of them.

“What do you want with me?” I asked him vigilantly.

The man looked at me with his green eyes. He seemed to be a bit sad.

“Do you know someone named Natalie Mendes?”

“Natalie Mendes?” I said the name again. “Is that a woman’s name?”

“Yes.” He replied.

“I don’t know her. Why are you asking me that?” I did know someone called Natalie, but I wouldn’t tell him where I’d heard it from.

“You look a little like her.”

“I look like her?” I raised my eyebrows slightly and looked at the man. Even though he only said two sentences, I could almost be certain who he was asking about.

Natalie Winslet, Luke Winslet’s wife, my mother.

“Could this person be my mother’s old friend?” I wondered.

In fact, ever since I was young, I had felt that my family was different from other people’s. I didn’t have any grandparents. It was as if my parents were orphans. Then, they got together and had me and my sister. Only the four of us lived together.

“Who are you to her?” I asked tentatively.

The man went silent for a moment, as if he was wondering how he should answer my question.

“She’s sort of my sister.”

“Liar.” I mutter to myself. “If she’s really his sister, why did he have to think for so long? He must be up to no good. Otherwise, why wouldn’t he want to tell the truth?”

“Oh, I don’t know her.” I answered his earlier question indifferently.

Regardless of the reason, regardless of whether the man was telling the truth or not, I wouldn’t tell him that the person he was talking about was my mother. Since my father and mother had never mentioned any other relatives to me, it meant that they didn’t exist.

I ignored the man and headed for the nearby locker room. I had to change before I got on the field.
