A Genius and a God Fell In Love - Chapter 29

It was easier to slide down than to climb up.

Once she reached the ground, she immediately ran forward.

There was no purpose or chosen direction. She just wanted to be far away from that bloody, suffocating place.

Tears blurred her vision. She ran too quickly and did not manage to stop herself from jumping into the black cloth.

A huge wave of fear hit her, and she quickly backed away.

But the black cloth seemed to cling to her, drifting backward with her.

The girl screamed in fright and tried to pull the black cloth off her body.

However, she still retained some of her rationality and did not tear the cloth.

Her heart was pounding and her tears never stopped flowing.

If the boy was here, he would definitely comfort her gently and tell her not to be afraid or anxious.

Then, he would help her to remove the cloth on her body.

“Why?”

She cried again, squatting on the floor and pounding the ground.

How was she going to survive the rest of the rounds?

What should she do?

Why did this happen? Why did this happen to her?

The girl cried until her voice turned hoarse. The lack of oxygen and hunger made her vision spin again.

Her eyes were swollen from crying and her irises were stinging.

After some time, she stood up in a daze.

However, before she could steady herself, her body swayed as she fell.

“Nancy, I think I hear crying.”

Felicia stopped and listened carefully.

“I don’t hear anything.”

Nancy frowned slightly, “There’s no sound at all.”

Felicia: “Okay, maybe I heard wrong.”

The two of them continued walking in the direction indicated by the clues.

The growling in their stomachs grew louder and louder.

Nancy pressed her stomach which was in pain and walked slower and slower.

Suddenly, she felt dizzy, and Felicia immediately supported her while asking: “What’s wrong?”

“I’m hungry.”

The girl smiled bitterly: “My throat is especially dry.” As she spoke, she started coughing.

Felicia said, “I’m hungry too. I think I’m getting hungrier by the moment.”

The girl nodded, a little distressed. She answered: “Indeed. In the game, it seems like our hunger is magnified several times, and the longer it drags on, the more difficult it would be.”

Felicia knitted her brows tightly, but she could not come up with a good idea even after thinking for a long time.

She could only encourage, “We need to persevere, there are less than four hours left.”

Nancy suddenly thought of something and said, “The judge said that we have to find a way to clear the level within ten hours, which means we don’t have to stay here for exactly ten hours.”

Felicia was stunned.

It could be that she was surprised by the little girl’s train of thought or that she suddenly realized why she had not thought of this earlier.

After a moment, under the girl’s expectant gaze, she nodded.

“I think so. The judge said not more than ten hours. As long as the route is right, we can leave now.”

Nancy pursed her lips and smiled: “Yes, that’s what I thought.”

Felicia replied, “But the chances are slim, and it’s practically impossible.”

After saying a few words, Nancy’s throat felt even drier.

She swallowed her saliva and said, “It’s not impossible even if the probability is low. Perhaps, we’ll walk out soon.”

Felicia could not bear to hurt the girl, so she patted her shoulder and said, “You’re right. Luck is uncertain, so this is always a possibility.”

The youth and the middle-aged man’s situation was even worse.

They also realized that hunger in the game would be amplified.

The previous few times, they had been running for their lives. Moreover, it was easy for young people to get hungry. But after a few times, their hunger was even more obvious now.

The middle-aged man could tolerate it, but his lips were dry and cracked.

The youth dragged his heavy steps forward as sweat trickled down his forehead.
