A Cruel Beast’s Leash - Chapter 11.1

Chapter 11.1

‘It won’t be poisonous,’ she thought.

If it wasn’t something harmful, then having a small amount would only have less effect. So, Emma decided to have a drink and emptied the glass into her mouth all at once while holding her breath.

She felt a burning sensation in her throat. It felt like anytime she would open her mouth, she would have released fire like a dragon. She coughed so hard from drinking the alcohol.

“Child.” The man laughed, as if he was having fun, and poured the whole bottle into his mouth.

Emma barely replied, trying not to cough again, “I’m an adult now… I even had an adult ceremony held.” He just shrugged and continued drinking.

She struggled to finish one drink, but the man drank the alcohol as if it is water. She can see how the drink moved through the man’s neck.

“Hmm…” The man wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and looked down at the now empty bottle.

“How can you drink like that?” Emma asked glumly. She couldn’t stop herself from asking the strange question. It was unbelievable for someone to drink so much alcohol in such a short period of time; never had she met anyone like this before, and for this, she felt strange and terrified.

“I’m not going to die,” he said. Even though he looked to be in pretty good health, it seemed that the alcohol might have been taking a toll on him because his response faintly started to slow down.

‘It would have been entertaining if his tongue got twisted as well. He’s quite attractive, if only he doesn’t respond in such a cold and direct way,’ she thought.

She was somewhat relaxed from her complicated thoughts. She briefly shifted her gaze and fixed it on the man opposite her, probably due to the alcohol that heated up her stomach.

“What do you want?” she asked.

“Nothing,” the man replied.

She looked at the man in front of her, slightly taken aback by her tenacity. He was such a young and attractive man that it was difficult to understand why he would be living in the woods for no reason.

‘Would he be popular if he had lived in a city?’ she wondered.

Women would sacrifice their lives for a wild and attractive man with a seemingly dangerous aura. Emma began to experience fondness for this strange man. He was not only gorgeous, but he had also saved her life. Who would be offended if a young and attractive man saved their life? It was natural for someone to feel that way.

Her vision began to shake slowly as she fiddled with the empty glass with her thoughts. Everything suddenly became twisted and blurry.

‘I guess I’m getting tipsy.’ Everything in front of her shook, as if it had been oddly distorted. ‘I would fall asleep soon, right? I don’t want a headache.’

“Huh?” she mumbled. ‘I guess I rose up unconsciously. My vision has shifted.’

That wasn’t the only thing, though. Suddenly, the flat marble beneath Emma’s feet began to shake unevenly, and she felt the ground rise sharply. As her body began to lose all energy, she felt as if the world was spinning around her.

Before she realized that there was something strange going on, her vision had darkened.

There was nothing but darkness after that.

Irvan blinked slowly when the woman collapsed in front of him.

‘I didn’t expect this.’ His blue-gray eyes suddenly sharpened and then dropped coldly. It was unexpected, but not surprising. In the back of his mind, he already had a hunch it would end this way.

The woman was soaked in the rain and covered in filth when he first saw her, possibly because she fell and rolled in the mud.  She shivered the same way she did outside, entering the room like a mouse covered in mud, and her complexion was quite pale even after washing up.

Her face eventually went white without any blood, and her lips turned purple over time.

“I advised her to drink because I thought her body temperature would rise, but I didn’t expect her to pass out so quickly.’ Irvan thought.

‘But this? With just one drink?’ He was speechless. Shouldn’t she at least emptied half the bottle? Irvan chuckled as he looked down at the fallen woman.  He couldn’t hold it against a woman who had already passed out.

‘Did I make a mistake?’ he asked himself. ‘The woman did say that she had a low alcohol tolerance.’

Irvan’s brow narrowed as he crossed his arms and gazed down at the woman who fell on the floor.  He remembered that, unlike himself or anyone he knew, most humans were extremely vulnerable.

‘’She appeared to be on the verge of passing away any time,’ he commented. She would have died of hypothermia if she had been left alone outside.

Irvan thought that since she would have died in the cold anyway, it would be better to kill her quickly. However, as soon as the woman approached him, his entire body’s nerves, which had always been stiff, began to loosen up.

This came as a surprise to him. He was taken aback by her existence.   He was barely confident, that this behavior was caused by her, but he risked on his perceptive senses. He had a lot of time and life was boring anyway.
